Absolute Magnitude

Absolute Magnitude is the production alias of David Farmer, a Multi Genre (but primarily Drum & Bass) producer and sound designer currently based in Charlotte, North Carolina, originally from Washington, DC. His work fuses cinematic atmosphere, aggressive low-end engineering, and futuristic storytelling into a distinct sonic identity. Drawing influence from cyberpunk aesthetics, astrophysics, classic jungle energy, and modern dancefloor drum & bass, Absolute Magnitude crafts music that feels less like a collection of tracks and more like transmissions pulled from a collapsing digital civilization.

Growing up near the nation’s capital and later relocating to the Southeast, David’s connection to electronic music evolved through years of exploring underground bass culture, atmospheric sound design, and high-energy rave music. Over time, that fascination transformed into a relentless pursuit of production mastery, with a focus on emotionally charged melodies, precision drum programming, and immersive worldbuilding. The result became Absolute Magnitude: a project built around intensity, scale, and atmosphere.

Known for blending dark cinematic textures with explosive percussion and futuristic soundscapes, Absolute Magnitude moves fluidly between liquid drum & bass, modern jungle, neuro-inspired bass design, and euphoric dancefloor elements. Each release is engineered with a heavy focus on movement and emotion, often carrying themes of artificial intelligence, dystopian futures, cosmic exploration, and the collision between humanity and technology.

Beyond music production, David is also the founder of The Dystopian Collective, an independent label and creative platform centered around boundary-pushing electronic music, cybernetic visual art, and immersive storytelling. Through both Absolute Magnitude and The Dystopian Collective, he continues to build a universe where music, science fiction, and digital art intersect.

Whether delivering emotionally atmospheric rollers, aggressive bass-driven anthems, or cinematic experimental pieces, Absolute Magnitude approaches every production with a clear artistic philosophy: create music that feels massive, futuristic, and emotionally immersive.
